Bilderbuch - Schwarzflug + Calypso (w/ David Kleinl / Tanz Baby!) (FM4 Studio 2 Session). Now including the visual experience!
Flip & Average - Unlimited. “This track was made for austrian radio station FM4 within 2 hours time, including making the beat, writing and recording the vocals and mixing it down. FM4 gave us 5 words to include into the lyrics, too…”
Two crappy Instagram pictures of the FM4 Studio 2 Session with Bilderbuch and James Hersey, 11 June 2012, RKH
Thanks to my dear friend E. I witnessed this epic, entertaining session and I’m talking about Bilderbuch more than James Hersey although he was nice too (and more soulful than in his YouTube videos) but Bilderbuch talked about feeling like the Dixie Chicks and a visit from the GIS Mann, and they played a new song called “Anlegen mit Leute”. You just can’t not love them. Listen to it on Thursday on the FM4 Homebase. (FM4 article)
A Thousand Fuegos: Whalesand + The Path, which has my second favourite ATF line in it (“Take my hand, wave your boyfriend goodbye”) in its early stages (on FM4)
Wenn die Lieder kürzen, kürzen wir Satzzeichen.
Twenty years ago I cared about music only if it came in the shape of David Hasselhoff cassettes, but according to Mr. Gstettner the Austrian music scene then was full of rivalry and jealousy. What nice times we live in now! Labels love each other, bands love each other and all is well (apart from the odd bitchy comment when people think nobody is listening to their conversations).
We interrupt the Ja, Panik Marathon for some important information:
It’s the National Holiday today in Austria (that’s not the important information), and the public radio station FM4 has dedicated the whole day to Austrian music (that is the important information). You can listen to the webstream from anywhere in the world.
From 7 pm, a studio session featuring Killed by 9V Batteries, Elektro Guzzi, Wolfram, G.Rizo, Teresa Rotschopf, Martin Knorz, A Thousand Fuegos & Die Eternias, Mile Me Deaf & Maximum Miracle Center, Vortex Rex, SK Invitanional Band, Flip, Lylit and Thaiman will be broadcast.
FM4’s Susi Ondrusova has written a review of the recent Ja, Panik gig in Vienna. Scroll down for an acoustic version of The Horror and an interview concerning musical firsts.
How exciting! Starting this week, Austrian bands and musicians will play at the Flex in Vienna every Wednesday at 8:30/9:30 PM for only 5 EUR. This Wednesday FM4 is giving away tickets and letting in the first 100 people for free for Kommando Elefant and Valesta. That is very nice of them, but we still choose to go to Ja, Panik and Die Eternias at Arena. However, next week(s) we’re definitely in! Here’s the schedule:
05.10. Kommando Elefant + Valesta
12.10. Luise Pop + The Helmut Bergers
19.10. Across The Delta
02.11. Ginga + Dust Covered Carpet
09.11. Die Eternias
16.11. The Incredible Staggers
23.11. Black Shampoo + Tba!
30.11. Beth Edges
07.12. Deckchair Orange + The End Band
21.12. Andreas Spechtl (Ja, Panik) solo + Over at the Stars

This article has been all over Twitter this morning, and rightly so.
