Likewise - The Horror The Horror
My favourite track from their recently released EP!
Likewise - Daddy Issues, from The Horror 10”, out now on Schoenwetter Schallplatten
Is that Marilies Jagsch in the video?
For those of you whose love for music by sensitive bearded guys with banjos peaked in 2010, rejoice! Slowly but steadily, Likewise are moving away from their folky origins and adding guitar riffs and effects pedals and the like to their oeuvre. For those of you who love folk music forever and always, rejoice also!, there’s still banjos and acoustic guitars on their new EP.
Daddy Issues is actually a rather old song from one of the band’s first EP’s, but rerecorded for The Horror - a wise decision; the newfound calmness of the song suits it well.
One crappy cellphone picture of LIKEWISE supporting Dry The River, 20 November 2012, Chelsea Vienna
This felt like things have come full circle. Back in March, I remember that on our way through the countryside, when Likewise played an acoustic concert in my father’s Kellerstüberl, we listened to the then freshly released Dry The River album in the car and everybody loved it. And then yesterday Likewise opened for them. And what a nice show it was! Their upcoming EP is going to be so good. Punch and The Horror already are two of my favourite Likewise songs.

Likewise, Reminder
The theme “Austrian indie bands shooting music videos in the forest” has been extended to ponds. Also, Leiterwagenenvy.

AUSTRIA: Walzerkönig
Likewise – Hope Upon My Heels (MP3)
There must be something in the water in Upper Austria’s Kremstal region. Part of a collective of remarkably talented young bands, five-piece Likewise released their full-length debut Prometheus Run earlier this month. Covering topics ranging from Greek mythology to wanderlust to romance (obviously), the 12 songs on the album oscillate between folk and Americana.

Likewise - Hope Upon My HeelsAn anxious young white male eats Leberkassemmerln, buys canned food and prescription meds, goes to a remote house in the woods with his dog Falco, receives a text message, changes his mind and joins a party.
I feel like I need to repost this because here is what is really going on: The party is a Weltuntergangsparty! And the guy wants to kill himself because he thinks the world is ending! (Ok that does not make a lot of sense imo)
Edited to add: Finally, we bring to you the real story: The main protagonist is just trying to escape from the world’s end and not planning to kill himself. Everything makes perfect sense now.
Prometheus Run - A Haustour with Likewise, tour documentary, Spring 2012
Likewise are hands down the nicest band on the planet. I happen to know this because I was lucky enough to be a part of their Haustour this spring, where they visited my parents’ house in the lowest part of the country (literally. Also figuratively) and played a Kellerstüberlconcert. Their album release show on June 6th at the OST Klub in Vienna won’t be as intimate but certainly great nevertheless so consider this an event recommendation!

Likewise: Hope Upon My Heels
When all is done who needs a resurrecting son, I need a fluorescent dream, I need some hope upon my heels
When the Likewise short film Prometheus, Run! - A Haustour with Likewise is shown at this year’s music film festival Poolinale, you might just get a glimpse of me. OK, this is probably only exciting to me, but still everyone should be excited about the film and the festival because Likewise are a great band, and the Poolinale is a great festival.
Thursday, 19 April, 7 PM, Top Kino Vienna (free entry!)
