Lemmy, I’m a feminist - Half Girl
After a lot of teaser pictures on facebook et al., Half Girls’ video for Lemmy, I’m A Feminist is finally here. It has the best possible version of Lemmy, i.e. one serving cake and feminist whisky.
Mozes And The Firstborn - I Got Skills, from I Got Skills EP, out now on Siluh Records
Skills, I got skills, I got skills to make it through your doorway
Listen to this on your next walk of shame to turn it into a walk of awesome!
Country of origin: Netherlands
The band from Holland recently released their EP on Siluh and will be supporting Two Gallants in Innsbruck on 18 May.
Francis International Airport - The Right Ones
in GIFs
With close ups, a lot of motion and even more bokeh, this video adds a nightly atmosphere to the song but also takes many cues from the music and lyrics.
Deicer - Sex Jams
A good old fashioned live video shot at one of my favourite cinemas in town.
Bad Seed - A Life, A Song, A Cigarette
Spoiler alert: There are people in this video and there’s a (drawing of a) wolf in this video but at no point do they become one, like I originally assumed.
Here comes your bride - Luise Pop
This take on the similiarly-named Pixies song starts off a little shy but quickly gains momentum. It was recorded for the Luise Pop/Half Girl split 7” that is released on and for Record Store Day - April 20 - on Siluh Records. So many of our favourite things in one neat package.
Half Girl - Lemmy, I’m A Feminist, from the upcoming Luise Pop / Half Girl Split 7”
Lemmy and I promise you, I’d never beat a boy
Half love song to Lemmy from Motörhead, half feminist anthem, entirely catchy, Half Girl’s Lemmy, I’m A Feminist is one of two of the band’s tracks on the split 7” they share with the equally great Luise Pop. Vera Kropf not only oozes coolness but also happens to play in both of these bands.
Happy International Women’s Day!
Sweet Sweet Moon - Woppy (Live at Circolo Hemingway)
Aaaah, all these unreleased Siluh artists songs that we cannot share with you yet, it is killing me! So for lack of a better option here’s another live version of the song that would be the highlight of everybody’s spring euphoria playlist if it were already properly released. That’s because it manages to make a line like I wanna stay with you forever sound like something you’d want to sincerely shout from the top of your lungs and forget all about the countless times this sentiment has been abused in lesser works of music.
Francis International Airport - The Right Ones, from Cache, out on 3 May 2013 on Siluh Records
Going well with the tech-themed album title, the most notable new things Francis International Airport do are the heavy use of e-drums and synths. This may take some getting used to for indie puritans and conservatives, but rest assured that after a few listens, the newness of the electronic elements gives way to the FIA sound we all know and love.
In my humble fangirl opinion, everyone else can pack up and go home because this, ladies and gentlemen, will be the album of the year 2013.
By the way: a cache (it’s not a Haneke film, so please no accent aigu) is a place where things are temporarily stored. In its most prominent everyday use, your cache is that which you should delete along with your browser history if you don’t want your mum/dad/spouse to find out you’re watching porn on the internet.

Sex Jams – Shark vs Apple (MP3)
The alternate girl/boy singing on Shark Vs Apple and its saucy, playful lyrics make it an instant favourite. Basically, the first single from the new Sex Jams album Trouble, Honey is what Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta would have sounded like had Grease been a noise-rock musical. Half of Sex Jams also play in May 2012’s MAP band and this year’s Eurosonic favourites Mile Me Deaf.

Drugs! Destruction! Balloons! Love it!
A pair of blue eyes - Sweet Sweet Moon (live in St. Pölten, November 18th 2011)
Ich empfehle, dieses Video mindestens zweimal anzusehen. Einmal für den Schafepullover und einmal für das Lied, das sich mit aufrechten Schultern in die Reihe großartiger Lieder über blaue Augen einreihen kann.
Killed by 9V Batteries - Deathmatch Media
“Deathmatch” is a phrase I only knew from MTVs animated plaster show Celebrity Deathmatch but originally it was used to describe game modi in computer games that basically mean “kill ‘em all” (I think. I only skimmed the wikipedia article.). In the context of this song, deathmatch of course relates to the deaths of real life people in the real world instead of avatars and I’m sorry this post took such an ugly turn but we live in a cruel, cruel world, so hold on to each other and be kind to the people around you.
Two crappy cellphone pictures of Francis International Airport, Café Publik, St. Pölten, December 21st 2012
In the Box inside the architecturally phenomenal St. Pölten Festspielhaus, Francis International Airport premiered a lot of new songs to a larger audience. Judging from them, the new album, that we can expect in May, will have a much harder feel than its predecessors and if this were an NME article, I’d call it “From the woods to the factory”. The songs have some very new wave-y, almost industrial qualities. During some I was reminded of New Order and Kraftwerk if they had started out as a folk band. There are steely drums and scratchy noises and I promised someone to say something about the bass but I don’t know how to speak about basses but uh, I liked it?
The new Francis International Album is definitely, definitely something to look forward to in 2013.
Shark vs. Apple - Sex Jams
All the kids will weep, all the kids will weep,
when we rush in, when we rush in
Despite these lyrics’ implications, Sex Jams’ first single off of “Trouble Honey” is great for an upbeat singalong. Sex Jams’ Katarina and Wolfgang totally are the noise rock version of Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta.
